Privately owned boutiques are the hallmark of St. Michaels shopping. Personal service, eclectic collections, and local wares abound. Most of the shopping can be done on foot via Talbot Street, so leave the car and wander around before lunch or dinner. The Scented Garden and Chesapeake Trading are two favorites.
Boating
Boat rentals can be had for either power, sail or kayak explorations. Leave the driving to a professional, and take a water tour or hire a charter captain for sightseeing or fishing. Miles River and San Domingo Creek offer plenty of both.
Museums
The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum hosts a variety of exhibits that showcase the history of boating and fishing industries in the community, as well as original lighthouses.

While no official tours are available, St. Michaels is home to some fairly infamous residents. Both Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney have homes there, creating a no-fly zone which many celebrities find appealing. Julia Roberts, Oprah Winfrey and Michael Jackson have all hunted houses in St. Michaels.
